- The purpose of the page is obvious within five seconds
- The primary action is the most prominent element
- The value proposition is stated in plain language
- Visual hierarchy guides the eye in a clear order
- Nothing competes with the single most important message
02Reduce friction
Cognitive Load
- Each screen asks the user to make one decision at a time
- Choices are limited to what is genuinely useful
- Related information is grouped and chunked
- Jargon is removed or explained inline
- Defaults are smart so users rarely have to think
- Whitespace gives content room to breathe
03Findability
Navigation & Architecture
- Users always know where they are in the site
- Menu labels match the words users actually use
- Key pages are reachable within three clicks
- Back, search, and breadcrumbs behave predictably
- The active state is visible on every nav item
04Microcopy
Content & UX Writing
- Headings are scannable and descriptive
- Button labels describe the outcome, not the mechanism
- Error messages explain what happened and how to fix it
- Tone is consistent across the whole experience
- No unexplained acronyms or internal terminology

Forms & Conversion Flows
- Only essential fields are requested
- Labels stay visible while typing
- Validation is inline and forgiving
- Progress is visible in multi-step flows
- Success and next steps are confirmed clearly

Accessibility
- Color contrast meets WCAG AA (4.5:1 for text)
- Every interactive element is keyboard reachable
- Focus states are visible and logical
- Images have meaningful alt text
- Nothing relies on color alone to convey meaning
- Tap targets are at least 44×44 pixels
07Speed & fit
Performance & Responsiveness
- Largest content paints in under 2.5 seconds
- Images are sized and compressed for the web
- Layouts adapt cleanly across mobile, tablet, desktop
- No horizontal scrolling on small screens
- Interactions respond within 100 milliseconds
08Confidence
Trust & Credibility
- Contact details and ownership are easy to find
- Social proof appears near decision points
- Pricing and terms are transparent
- Security and privacy cues are present where needed
- The design feels intentional and consistent throughout
